Was going down the road and noticed oil pressure was dropping. Went another mile to a safe pull off and the oil pressure disappeared. Had towed home and got under truck and found that the bottom of the vacuum pump was broken off near the oil feed. Has anyone had any problems like this. The motor was running fine when I shut it off. Im sort of thinking kdp. It did get very cold last night (15). The kdp would of destroyed the frt end and shut the engine off, but it didnt. Need some ideas and a new vac pump. Thanks, Moe

UPDATE. Found a company called Gould Electric in N. C. that sent me a new vacuumn pump front section for 199. 00. Free shipping. Price included written instructions and all the sleeves to replace the seals plus a great DVD. This replacement pump was the not easy to replace. Very limited access to work in, but we finally finished her. Very satisfied. Pete (the owner) says that the vacuumn pumps seem to fall apart around 180000 miles. Hope this might help someone else in the TDR. Merry Christmas. Moe

Doug:
The vacuum pump is in two or three sections depending on year. The rear section doesn't generally go bad as there is not much to it. So no need to buy the whole pump if you don't have to might as well save the 150ish dollars. Try going here GOULD GEAR & ELECTRIC and dig around not sure if his install video is on there or not but you may find enough info on the site to answer your questions and then some. Pete Gould is the only one I know of that you can get a vacuum pump from that is not an outrageous price (ie dealer item).

I just replaced the vacum pump & Power steering pump on my truck (175,000 miles on th orginal). I got a rebuilt pump from Gould Gear and Electric and the PS pump is a rebuilt Cardone. I highy Gould Gear and Electric and they are very helpful if you run into any problems or have nay questions. I would recomned that if you take the time to pull the vacum pump I would replace the entire pump and the PS pump. It all has to come out anyway.
