I have the dreaded leak where the power steering pump hooks up to the vacuum pump. I have the seal, o-ring and gasket for the power steering pump to fix but lacking the gasket for the vacuum pump to back of gear case. I will get at Cummins in AM.

I have the manual and have gone thru the section on how to do the removal BUT, BEFORE I GO AND DO SOMETHING STUPID, I would appreciate any how to or not what to do's about this job.

How hard is it to get to the bolts on the vacuum pump?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Jim,

Nothing to it- just take out the 2 bolts (15mm wrench), and the whole assembly comes off the cover- gear is attached to the vac pump. No need to get a gasket, either. I used the Ultra Black (or was it Ultra Copper? one of them) Silicone sealant, and once I got it on there, let is set up overnight. So far so good. No leaks that I coudl find. Cut my oil consumption in half. JUst have to redo valve seals to get the other half. New head is in the works; just need the $$$$.

Cant help ya on the rest of it; The manual I have is for a 90- different set up. Supposed to be able to undo the bolts holding the two together, and they fall apart. YEah, right. Believe it when I see it.
