I just installed the 4x4 Posi-Lok on my truck and the directions say nothing about plugging the old vacuum lines up that went to the old CAD actuator. I have been driving the truck around a lot since then with the lines un-plugged, will this do any harm? When I go to put it in cruise control one day is it not going to work, because the lines need to be plugged and will cause a leak? Just curious how the vacuum system works and if it needs to be completely sealed everywhere in order for other vacuum actuated devices to work.

Thanks, Joe

Hey Joe, it is my understanding that you need to have a completely sealed vacuum system. If the lines you unplugged are on the return side of the line (past the device) you would not need to plug them. I would plug them all though, if nothing more than to keep dirt out of the lines should they need to be reconnected later.

Hey, it's my fearless So Cal leader! Oo. What's up Kev?

Yeah, I was going to plug them up anyway for the dirt factor but I just figured I would ask to see what others have done. I am actually going to remove the lines all the way back to the transfer case and plug 'em as I don't need them running up the frame towards the front axle anymore. But thanks for the reply.

One other question, do both the lines have a vacuum or does one pull vacuum and the other have pressure?

Thanks, Joe

Their are many items that depend on the vacuum to function correctly not just the CAD system up front. Your HVAC controls are all operated by vacuum, as is the cruse control and brakes on some models. Leaving a vacuum line open is just plain dumb, it allows moisture and contaminates to inter the system and interfere with the normal operation of the parts, pump and controls.

The kit should have came with a plug to cover the tee that runs down to the TC switch. It's near the master cylinder.
