Will the 97 PS pump along with the Hydra Boost pump fit my 95. If so how about the Booster & master cylinder as I am putting in an 03 rear end.

What valves must be changed? I have RWAL .

I've heard of a few doing this swap. I guess everyone's in Indiana - give it a few days and maybe someone will respond

Balzac, I'll give it a shot. I changed my 94 vacuum booster to a 2002 hydraboost. I also swapped to a 2002 dana 80 with disc brakes. The power steering pump will bolt right up. Mine had a bigger fluid resivor, and a extra return port for the hydraboost.

The hydraboost unit bolted right up also. But mine is a 2002 disc brake setup. Compared to the drum hydraboost, the master cylinder is larger, as is the resivor. The 02 master cylinder will not bolt up to the drum type hydraboost.

I changed out my proportioning valve to an aftermarket that was designed for front and rear disc brakes. I didn't try the factory one to see if it would work or not. Reason was it was pretty cruddy lookin inside. Figured if I was replacing it, go with one made for this setup, (disc/disc).

Some things to consider. Change the seal between the vacuum pump and power steering pump while you have it apart.

You will need some type of canister to hold vacuum since you are removing the factory vacuum booster. I made my own, but on the hydraboost units, there is a canister under the windshield cowl panel. Found this out later.

You are going to an American Axle instead of a Dana.

This is why I was a little reluctant to reply. I don't know how everything would work out on that setup. Would you need the master cylinder off an 03? What proportioning valve would you need? Any other problems? Not sure, just telling you what worked on mine.

Good luck

Brad

swap

I also swaped an 02 disk rear end into my 96 along with a 02 master cyl proportioning and hydra boost system. The pump bolted right up. The rear end bolted right in but i had to shortem my emergency brake cable. all works well alot firmer than the 96 stuff

Thanks for your reply's,

Is there a seperate Hydra pump as well as the power steering pump or does the power steering pump do both?

Will the 95 vacuum pump bolt up to the 02 PS pump?

Will the 02 vacuum cannister fit in our older trucks?

Is the 97-01 PS pump the same as 02, or 03-05?

Thanks again for the help.

Jim

Just the power steering pump for both.

Yes. Mine was the 3 piece vacuum pump like the 1st gen, and still bolted up.

Any 2nd gen year model canister that came with the hydraboost setup should fit.

Is the 97-01 PS pump the same as 02, or 03-05?
That one I don't know for sure. Maybe someone else might know.
