what provides the vacuum on my truck? is it a vacuum pump? if so, where is it located? i see something on the port side fender well. looks like a little diaphram thingy under a metal plate. thanks for the info. scott.

The vacuum pump is in front of the power steering pump and beneath the injector pump. You can follow a black plastic (nylon) tube from the fender area, down to the pump, where it connects with a fat rubber connector.

it's a pump that is mounted on the lower side of the passenger side of the engine I think...

Doc's got it right. I think you other guys are talking about the wastegate.

You were looking at the cruise control diaphragm assembly.

Doc hit it on the nose. It's just below injection pump bolted onto gear housing. Power steering/hydroboost pump is attached to it via a coupling.
