Anyone had problems with the seal between vacuumn pump and power steering pump? My seal is apparently shot and I am painting the bottom of my truck w/oil. Won't have to worry about rust. Called dodge dealer and they informed me that this is not covered under the 100K mile engine warranty and the cost of the pump (which according to the service manual is not serviceable) is $1,018. 00 and my labor or pay theirs to install. I don't understand why this wouldn't be under warranty since it is a seal to the engine internals and working properly oil should stay where it belongs, in the engine and not all over my truck and tailgate. :(

Cant speak to the warranty issue but there is a seal kit for it. I am not sure who all sells it but member "CPFF" (who was the first one to source the parts and put the kit together) sells the seal kit and I can tell you that it is significantly cheaper than 1000. 00. You might try to PM him. I also thought I just recently read on here that dodge came out with a seal it for it as well but not sure on that.

I changed out the seal on my old first generation. I don't think the process could be to much harder than that. Was a fairly easy job. I can't believe that DC won't cover it under warranty.

Fixinrams.com

Bought my kit from fixinrams.com (reduced to 49. 00) and it worked great (knock on wood). So far no leaks and the seal replacement,w/tools supplied in kit, only took about 15 minutes. The other 3. 5 hours were spent with removal and reinstallation in truck. The biggest PITA was the removal of the power steering lines which only came out after "the knife" went to work. Just enough slack to reinstall. I'd recommend this kit w/excellent DVD to anyone.

:D
