Where do I call for SBC quote? Is it SBC directly or a distributer? Is installation similar to other cluthes if I take it to a local mechanic? I am planning on getting one and I will go with SBC. We spend good ammout of cash on other goodies, stuff of a lot less importance, and we always find a excuse for, but when a clutch needs exchange, we'll save some money there. Well, this is my priority, and the rest of the stuff... I'll rearrange a bit.

I've had the pleasure of doing this at a PDR event and YES he is the man to buy a clutch from that will last. Mine is about 82K last and the ofe still holds 428. 8 HP and 1K torque and it's driven like I stole it :-laf

I can only imagine that you hear about the same products over and over due to the free market playing out. You're going to hear from consumers; they're going to speak about their purchases. If you hear about one product more than others, I'd presume it means the free market is speaking.

quite the contrary, your comments have been very helpful. If this clutch doesnt work for the way I would like then I will find out the hard way. I can live with that. If this clutch is a lame duck I will report so and on the other hand If I am satisfied I will report this also. I have no allegiance! However, I do have those out there that I have great respect for b/c of past behavior and dedication to our sport and Peter you are top on my own personal list. With that said I have no problems with any new guys trying to bring quality products to the table. If there products are not quality how with they be exposed If someone like myself who I hope most of you trust dont test them out. The only agenda I have out of all of this is to expose a good or bad product. I hope those who are died hard SBC fans will respect this. Now If I could have found conclusive evidence that the clutch I am about to install was not a good product FOR ME then would not be installing it in my truck. What if peter was the one just starting out with a good product would all of you say that there was no other clutch than luk. This reminds me of the whole DTT-ATS thread. Hind site being 20/20 ATS and multiple disk converters have been justified. I think DTT now even offers a multiple lock up converter :-laf . People have come and gone on this board ie moolie I have been here trying to learn and help that remains unchanged. Hell I consider one of the moderators on this board a personal friend and as a matter of fact he is driving my old ride and I ended up buying his brothers truck which I am currently driving blabla I will shut now

I may not run with the big dogs on HP and torque, but I can't keep a clutch in either. Just put in a Luk 6. 2L 1 ton 12" clutch (Sunday) since I had to get it back on the road and couldn't wait. I figure I bought an extra three months with the Luk @ $100/mth. No pulling - just DD.



So, there is my experience.

Just wondering... can you fit a 13. 125 inch clutch in that NV4500? Thats what I have in mine and it rocks way better than the 12incher

I think I'd have to get a Dodge BH, dodge input shaft, Dodge adapter plate for Cummins eng to BH, Flywheel, Hyd clutch from a dodge, then get the clutch and PP and TO bearing. Would be an inch longer so I could get the driveshaft cut.



Adapter $200 - $600

Flywheel $400 - $800

Input shaft $100

Hyd Clutch $600

Clutch kit? $600+

DS Cut $150



I may be off a little on prices, but it is ballpark. $2000 to go to a 13" may not be reasonable unless I can get a wrecked truck cheap. If the clutch is too much, I'll be looking at another way also.

Stay away from Centerforce!

I have a friend In Tenn. that bought a Centerforce clutch that was suppose to hold 900lbs and 450 hp :-{} what a joke! He called them and told them what he was doing with the truck and how much it weighed and the said we will send you a new clutch the is much stronger and you will not have a concern... ... Well this is going to be his third clutch and I told him to stop and go with a SB!

As I knew would happen, the springs are rattling around - very loud. Just two weeks old. I figure I have a month left on the luk.



I only hear them when the load on the clutch is zero or near zero such as going on the down side of an overpass. You'd think the thing is going to come apart right then. I have to either speed up to put pressure on the the springs or take my foot off the accelerator. At least I think it is the springs. Are we having fun yet?
