For those of you with the valet switch,

I installed mine a couple of weeks ago hoping it would take the truck down to about stock level when engaged. (No smoke, and not a whole lot of power) The instructions say you should have little to no response when it is engaged. My response is not too different than normal, but is does top out around 30 psi rather than 42. Also, I can still produce a respectable cloud of smoke on take off. I think I can remember seeing that on Pier's old truck it limited to 25 psi and little smoke. Is the secret to the valet switch proper AFC tuning? Mine is all the way forward right now and also has just a turn past contact on the no load. Thanks,

illflem,

The valet switch is a solenoid valve not unlike the ones used for our e-brakes. It is plumbed inline in between the intake manifold and the AFC. When the valve is closed, it bleeds off the boost going to the AFC. So if the AFC is set conservatively you will have no response and no smoke. I figured it would be handy for the ice in the winter and if I get pulled over for blackening the interstate. Honest officer, I've never seen it do that before! Here try it.

I just don't know how much to expect.
