Hi,

I was wondering if you 2nd generation guys could help me out. I am looking at purchasing a 1994 Ram 2500 to replace my wife's '93 Ford Ranger. I am wondering how far in or out of line the price is. It is a long bed 2500 4X4 with the Cummins. It has an automatic in it and 2-tone (blue/gray) paint. Also, the rearend has 3. 54 gears. It is very clean and has no rust. The front tires are new and the rear tires are 50%. It doesn't have any options such as AC or power anything. The wheel wells and rear end have been undercoated. The brakes and steering felt fine and it drove really nice. I can't see any leaks on the truck. The engine and transmission oil were very clean looking too. Current milage is 103,000. Currently, I have the dealer down to $12,500 for it. What do you think? Thanks.

What type of mileage do you think I could get with a stock setup (plus K&N air filter)?

$12. 5k is a little steep, I've seen '94s similar to what you describe go for $9k in my area. If the truck seems to be in excellent shape I wouldn't pay more than $11. 5. You can expect to get at least 18 mpg on the highway empty. My 2500 that is about the same consistently gets 22-24 mpg.

Hi,

I think value all depends where you live. Here in Arizona, that would be an average price. I sold a 1994 4X4 SLT Laramie with 119,000 miles for $12,500 and I felt that was a very fair price. It was my first Dodge, and it took me about a year to find that one. I sold it because it was an automatic. In order to find a Dodge with 100,000 miles for less than about $10,000 around here, it has to be well worn cosmetically, and still would sell quickly. For some reason, the Dodges around here are rarely for sale, and when they are, they go very quickly.

However, $11,000 or so should be fair.

P. S. - You can expect between 17-21 mpg, depending on the valve lash clearance and other things... but this is my range.

I would look up the blue book price. NADA, not Kelly as I have found Kelly to be somewhat high. I just bought my 98 4x4 reg. cab, laramie all kinds of loaded minus leather with 128k for 14,500 so I would think that 12,500 is very high. Look up www2. nadaguides.com for a good price.

Hey case 500D

First of all I dig that tractor pic! I live here in OKC, OK and pickups are somewhat high in this 4 state region but I'll give you and example. I just bought a 98' ex cab,2WD,short box,cummins,auto,3. 54, 64k and very clean and in real good shape from a small town dealer for 17,900 now before everyone falls off there rocker the normal big town dealers are asking 20-21 for the same model and options. So far around town I get 19MPG, haven't made a road trip yet!

Attn others: How much would the valve lash affect Mileage on the Cummins and what have you set them(valves) at???????

I saw a '96 Dually 4X2 regular cab Cummins yesterday for $7500. Anyone interested?. Barry said it looked pretty good!

I paid 17,000 for my truck. 97 4x4 extended cab long bed. it has a ARE cap, running boards, fully loaded exept leather, banks power kit. it had 117,000 miles on it. tell me if thats to high? i was told that the truck was worth more.

I just bought my 94 4x4 reg. cab, laramie just pade 9,000 with 120k and a small spot of rust on the lower drivers side door.

In Oklahoma your truck would retail in the low 20's from what I've seen and researched, kinda depends were you are, the miles are fine it's just broke in!

Good News!

Thanks for all of the help fellas. No more spark plug changing for me because everything I now own has diesel injectors in it! Thanks again.

$12,000 and they help sell the Ford Ranger. Sounds like a good deal to me. I will post a couple of pictures when I get the truck this weekend. Thanks again for all of the help.
