Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Value of a transmission?

I just installed a G56 in my 97.



What is the best method to get rid of the auto I just removed? It is in good runing condition, but has 190K on it.



Just trying to find out if it has any value, and where to take it or how to sell it.

You can take it to a re builder and he will give you "core" price or put it for sale in Craig's list. Don't expect much, I think they are a good trans but they have a bad rep.

Thanks Wilson. I agree that these trannys have a bad rap. Mine has been fine.



The question remains, is it worth 100, 200, 300, etc? I have no idea?

Don't know how much of a comparison this is, but yesterday I saw a guy on San Diego Craigslist selling a 12 valve engine 250K miles for $1750. 00 and the NV4500 trans separately for another $1750. 00. Considering the troubles with 5th gear, it too suffers from a bad reputation.

Did the transplant go well and smooth? I've got an early 98 (your engine, but the the "overvalved" cab), I'm tired of the slushbox, ANNNND... I know a customizing shop that has a g56 sitting on the workbench Oo.



What clutch did you go with? Stock? South Bend? somebody else?

i would say if you got $500 for a auto that has 190k on it you are doing pretty good. i would think that would be a little on the high side. Thats what i go on a core for mine. well i think i might have gotten $1000 core. i am not sure... . But to just sell it i would think $500 is fair.

I will let you know when I am done. The swap itself went well, but I have a problem (it is in the 911 section if you want to read the details) that is not yet resolved due to time issues.



Hopefully, I will be posting some good news soon, or the slushbox may go back in
