Prodigy Brake Controller

For sometime now many of you have asked me about values on RVs or which RV to buy. I am always glad to give an opinion as they are like belly buttons... ... . most folk have one. While surfing thru ebay today there are two prime examples of what I have been preaching. ( A picture is worth a 1000 words and an example is worth a 1000 pictures. ) Ebay item #594116408 is a Holiday Rambler Alumalite Custom that these folk bought brand new and paid almost $40,000. It has been used half a dozen times and has always been stored indoors when not in use. No smoke, kids or pets. The owner is hoping for $18K but if it could be bought for $15 or $16K it would be a bargain compared to a new one. The other unit, item # 594095399, is a Jayco that a dealer took in trade in Nashville. He told me about the unit last week and said he would get back to me but I never heard from him. If that unit could be bought at something back of $9K it would be a lot of camper for the money. So there you have it RV fans, "Take a hard look at yesterday's quality before you buy today's junk". Barry,

Just wanted to thank you for your opinions and advice. When I am ready to take the final plunge, I will buy used instead of new on the 5'er. Let some other poor soul take the hit on depreciation

Thanks again for your help!

Barry-

You helped me a great deal (for free) during a long and what I thought would be endless search for a used RV. It ended up being almost a year. I almost gave up a few times and considered buying new, but when I thought of those thousands I'd lose in a couple of years I came to my senses. I wished a lot of times that you were closer to where I live.

I ended up with an 1999 that I probably saved at least 8-10 thousand on compared to new and you can't tell it from a new one!! Thanks for all the advice in the past. If I can send you any customers I certainly will! You the man, Barry!

Buying used,,,,,,

About eight years ago, when the wife and I pulled a 18' well-used MobileTraveler with a well-used GMC 1/2 ton, we were happy. Then, the wife seen a used 86 26' Nomad hooked up to a 86 F-150 that we bought both for $5,000 and we were happier. This combo more than paid for itself in the enjoyment we've had. The F-150 was finally replaced when I convinced the wife, we could not look for a bigger 5er until I had a bigger truck to pull it with :D Hence, , , , RATTLINRAM came to live with us. Now, we are both very happy cause I've got the best truck a guy could have and the wife is keeping an eye out for a bigger 5er. The only thing is, I hate to get rid of the Nomad because it is in such great shape and has a lot more years left in it. My folks bought a new Coachman, but said if they would have found a used rig like ours, they would rather have gone that route.

Keep up the good work Barry, I always like to read your posts.
