how difficult is is to do a valve adjustment on these 12valves on your own. im thnking my truck really needs one and am wondering how tuff it is.

how much will a shop usually charge to do one on our trucks?

Pretty simple really. Since you've never done one before though, I would suggest watching it being done the first time. If I was out there this week, I'd do it for ya. Only cost a 24 pack of Mt. Dew.

Do the last "short Version"

Use the last "short Version. " I've done it that way, quick, easy, minimum patients needed. Follow the directions carefully. Get a new gasket set, it's worth doing it right the first time I've been using the same method on my bug for over 18-years every 3K miles. Works like a champ:-laf

if you dont mind me asking... why do you adjust the valves every 3k. i thought every 25k er so was pretty standard?

because the old vw aircooled were notorious for sinking the valve seats.

oh i gotcha, i missed the vw part. i thought you were talking about the cummins.
