Hey Guys, how often should I adjust the valves on my 93 cummins ? I got three differant answers from three differant Cummins service shops. One shop said every 24,000 miles, another shop said 40,000 miles and one said every 60,000 miles. This truck has 130,000 miles on it now and the last time the valves were adjusted was at 30,000 miles. Thanks for your help!

i have several trucks with near or over 1,000,000 miles on them you only need to adjust about every 250,000 miles. check it in about another 150,000 miles. just curious, how can a truck that old have such low mileage

I only use the truck for hauling and hunting. It's in near perfect condition for it's age.

The only thing wrong is that the paint started to peel off a couple of years ago. I put it on AMSOIL bumper to bumper at 30,000 miles.

I have a 92 with less than 70,000 miles I found it setn in an old guys garage that I was doing some work for. It still has the new truck smell.

Might be similar to a /6. I bought one new in '73, set the valves at 500 miles, checked them at 5000 and made two slight adjustments, checked at 10,000, no change, checked at 50K, no change. Ran that thing a little over 400K.

Once a new one breaks in properly it just won't change much, but you do need to check it during break in, about 50-100K on a Cummins.

My '93 only has 68K original as well. It had a lance camper permanently mounted on it it's whole life and only used for camping. They're definitely out there.
