I had enjoyed playing with the VP44 and thought that I could get a bit more out of it, though I knew that I was near the limit of power and fueling. Then the VP44 left me dead in the passing lane, just like you shut the switch off. I was miles from home an needed badly to travel a hundred miles and be on time. Got the truck hauled home, started to replace the VP as I have a new one and used one but I no longer trusted the VP44. I had a core 12V engine with a '913 P7100, most of the conversion parts and decided to convert for reliability and a slight hope of more power. It's been a hassle and learning experience with the P7100, lost a ton of driveability and power initially. Bought a race pump to replace the '913 and then needed other mod's.
I didn't convert back due to a huge amount of time invested, along with real money in this conversion. I still have the Blue Chip FMS on my dash and all the wiring intact so I can convert back, but I'm not a quitter and will give this my best before giving up.
Since my last post, things have really came together. Truck runs much better, power is much better, even made a couple good sled pulls on Saturday. I'm my towing my travel trailer to Kentucky in the morning, going to try a few sled pulls this weekend, hopefully this is going to work out. Driveability will never match the VP44 but I knew that beforehand. There are some pluses so far, such as my truck is now very quiet at highway speeds. With the VP44 it was noisey, I never heard the BFG AT's hum on the pavement but now I can. Larry
