Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Valve Adjustment

On the 12 valve you can use the alternator nut to turn the engine. The hole for the barring tool is on the passenger side facing the front. There is a black plug in the hole you will be looking for

The barring tool goes into the bell housing on the passenger side. There is a hard rubber plug that needs to be removed to slide the barring tool in. It helps to put some assembly lube on the splines of the tool first

That's a much better way of wording it. I probably would've just cautioned him to pre-lube the tool.
