Valve adjustment

Hey guys, this may be a stupid question, but does the valve adjustment help the truck in the power or performance department? I don't know alot about this subject. All i know is my truck has had it valves adjusted once at 30,000 miles... . as of today it has 138,000 miles. I know it's past due for a valve adjustment, but I was just wondering if it makes the truck run better or what exactly it does. I know I probably sound like a real dummy with this question, but I just know nothing about this particular area.

There is no such thing as dumb questions, just bad answers. LOL.
The valve adjustment will help smooth out the run of your engine. With inconsistent valve clearances the performance can be affected. Valve clearance affects valve timing and that affects how well you use the fuel. I find that just a little extra clearance seems to make the engine run a little rougher.

On the flipside, if the valve train wears to the point where the clearances tighten up, you could potentially burn a valve! #ad

So the adjustmets are truly and ounce of prevention and well worth the time.

Cody the valve clearences tend to stay within tolerance after they have been checked/adjusted a couple of times.
