I feel i should adjust the intake and exhaust valves on my engine although it only has 36K miles, I feel I should adjust them due to the vibration in the engine, it is not bad it is just not good and after reading the acceptable tolerences on the valves I feel I would like to get them dead on not kind of close, I figure it wont hurt, I ahve experience setting the valves on mercedes diesels but never on a CUmmins, is there any special tools recquired to o this or any tips or advice, thanks much.

You'll have no problem and the only special tool is a device called a baring tool to turn the engine (it goes into a hole in your bell housing) but some folks just use the alternator nut.

One thing about the alternator nut, I tried that on mine and I was unable to get it to turn, the belt just slipped the pulley. I ended up taking a 15 mm medium socket and going uner the truck with a 3/8" breaker bar and turning it over under there. It was annoying, but it worked just fine.
