farmerzo, I haven't seen any thead about this but, what has changed in the last few weeks that might be related to your power loss??? Anything special??
You may have gotten some bad fuel, you may have a plugged/plugging fuel filter, you may have injector problems.
Any other info or related things that strike you as odd or coincidental??
You can have valve noise, injector noise, and pump noise.
It's pretty uncommon for our valve lash to be 'way out'...
Yes, they do need setting every so often, but normally, once set, they hang on pretty good. That is, unless during setting you find one with unusually high error, then you need to watch that one for a while to make sure it's not developing a problem.
Valve set is important on these to be sure. The spec is. .
Intake: . 010 (ten thousandths)
Exhaust: . 020 (twenty thousandths)
Set with engine at below 150*F I believe.
Take a piece of garden hose, about 3' long, and use it like a stethescope... listen to each rocker cover for loudness, and anything else unusual.
BTW, be careful of rotating things, I darn near slapped myself silly once... .

Injectors also have their own noise. You will likely notice it if the injector is malfunctioning and/or you put in different injectors. I really notice a different sound when the POD's went in.
Advancing your timing will also cause a change in engine sound.
For example, when its cold out, and the KSB solenoid is triggered, you'll hear and feel a difference in the engine sound/idle.
