Okay guys does anyone have the part# or know of a place to get the individual valve cover gaskets for the 12V it is a 92 truck???? i may only need to tighten the back one down as i am having seepage not a drip but heavy seepage. .

Thanks in advance Oo.

The pn for each gasket is Cummins 3930906

You'll find them at any marine/ag/industrial/truck dealership :D

Be happy you don't have a Ford ;)

Napa also carries them. My guess is you can get them just about anywhere... whether or not they stock them is another matter.

I have never use the NAPA gasket. I forget who makes them.

Local TDR member installed a fresh new set and they leaked from the get go. The performance shop told him it was becasue of the high HP/fast rpm's and thus incresed crank case pressure that was causing them to leak... ... ... ... ... . huh!?

I installed a set of the Cummins quality silicone OEM units and no more leakage. Imagine that.

Dun forgot to add the Cummins are now grey and NAPA black.

Scott... I have a NAPA set and so far they don't leak... ...

Some day I'll even take them out of their package and install them... . :-laf

I have reused the gaskets themselves many times and never had any trouble. However, I tried to reuse the O-rings under the bolts once and everthing weeped. I think fresh O-rings are needed under the bolts to put the gaskets in compression so they don't leak. It's also necessary to have the surfaces clean which can be accomplished with an air hose while the covers are all mounted.

Thanks guys, yeah my problem might be if they stock them or not... May have to call Cummins in Roanoke Va. , i think there is one there if not, for sure in Charlotte, Nc.

I did find last night after inspection that the back valve cover bolt was loose, could turn it with my fingers. I had to use a pair of channel locks as i didn't have a deep well metric to use on it, but was able to get it fairly tight and im sure at least the 18ft lbs. I also checked the air charge tube on the bottom of the turbo, i do have some black oily residue inside the tube but i figure with the mileage of the truck and no more than i was seeing this wasn't an issue... . Thanks guys in advance again.

Are you talking up near Roanoke? or down toward Charlotte, i know there is one in charlotte but wondered about Roanoke... . Also just a little while ago i went to check on the status of my undercarriage, just a spot check and was checking out the inspection slot for the flywheel, i couldn't believe it, the teeth on the flywheel look like they have never been used, other than just regular oxidation from the elements(rust color). I did see that me tightening down that valve cover bolt did stop the seepage to the best of my eye could see also.

Wyatt,

The Roanoke shop is:

WyattEarp,

The Exit 150 is for the Roanoke one... take the truck stop exit, right at the light, go past the Waffle House, left by the used car lot, Cummins at the end of the road.

Dont forget the Case IH dealer. Tell them you need them for a 580C Case backhoe. I recently paid over $5 apiece for them, though.
