valve cover stickers

Does anyone sell stickers that match the raised letters on the plastic valve cover piece? I want to paint it to match the red truck, but don't want to have to take all the time to mask it off? I know this is a gimp questions, but oh well.

Most people that have painted their cover painted over the letters and then went back and painted the letters by hand with Testors model paint. I milled all my letters off, painted mine red when I painted the hood, and used one of the chrome fender emblems in place of the original "C".

Could you spread a thin layer of Vaseline on-top of the letters, paint the cover then wipe off the letters?

That should work. The letters on mine are starting to peel off by themselves anyway.

You acetone... took mine right off

I spray painted mine with red Krylon Fusion paint and did the letter's with silver Rustoleum that I applied using a 1/2 inch foam brush. The paint has held up very well. Check my readers rig for results.



However, I know for a fact the ultimate valve cover paint job is yet to be seen. Unfortunately, since I don't want to steal this individuals thunder I can say no more .

Yeah, I've seen that one. . It is the most amazing thing I've ever seen!

I wiped off my valve cover with brake cleaner on a rag when I spilled a little oil and it took the red right off those letters. Something to watch out for.

Thats what precipitated my red paint job except it was heavy duty citrus cleaner on the rag that took my paint off.
