Valve Extenders for Duallies

I have seen a couple of rigs with stainless steel braided hoses extending the inside valvestem to make it more accessible. Having wrestled with POS "insert quarter" air pumps on trips and such more than I care to, the extenders seem like an attractive idea.



Have any of you guys used these things? How do you keep the tire balanced with the hose on it? Does anybody make just an angled extended metal valve stem (an inch or two longer than stock) that you can get to easier?



Just wondering if there is an easier way... .

I feel your pain. Literally!!

My truck has aftermarket wheel simulators and the edges of the hole cut outs are as sharp as a razor blade. When I pulled a buddy's 5th wheel, we had to inflate the rear tires to compensate for the load. I was bleeding at the end of that little escapade Multiple cuts from those things.



I've also seen the hoses that go from each valve to the outside of the wheel cover(attach to it I think) and wouldn't mind some input on those little jewels. If anyone's got them and would care to comment, it would be appreciated.



My two concerns are wheel balance and something slipping up between the rear tires and taking them out.

well i had those for a while. they have just a clip to clip on the simulater. i didnt like that so i bent them to slide onto wheel. that worked. untill i pulled the back wheeels the nut on the stem was frozen on and had to pull the clip off . what i am saying is they are great till you pull the wheels. then when you get new tires you better take them off before you go to the tire shop. and as far as wheel balance i did not have any vibration.



now im looking for a metal extender that does not clip on . one straight for inner and one u for outer. no clips.

The braided lines are to be used with metal valve stems. Others have commented about rubber stems giving way/leaking after some running time with the braided lines. I've also seen the metal stem requirement clearly stated in extender kit info.

If you don't have access to a duelly air hose chuck, most truck stops have them no quarters involved, just buy some metal valve stem extenders and use them only when airing tires then remove.

I had/ have the braided lines...........

When I first got the truck it drove me nuts to check the pressure and inflate. I got a kit with four hoses and clips to rivet to the rear caps that hold the lines in place. Even with the rubber stems they worked great for a long time. Have to really tighten them on though. One hose was defective and slipped off its end after a few months. Manufacturer sent me a new one but got me to checking the tires more often.



After the new tires I had them put on the metal valve stems. I tried something different this time. I used the braided lines from the inside tire and went with a solid extender that's bent to 135° for the outside. Both are working well for me. And after spending $1300 on new tires I am going to make sure they get good care.
