Ok... ... now that I am using the 2001 for making a hot rod out of :) I am doing all the work myself... ... . THis brings up a quesiton. In my quest for more power and making sure everything about the engine is upto snuff before shooting the fuel to it, I want to check the valve train out. Can someone educate me on what the valve train settings are for intake and exhaust and any tricks there may be in adjusting?

No I have not bought the shop manual yet :) I will, but the fueling box will be here tomorrow and I dont want to wait to put it on but I also dont want to shoot the fuel to it without checking to be sure all is well with the valve settings etc... ... .

THanks!

INTAKE valves are between . 15mm and . 38mm. Set them at . 25mm.

EXHAUST valves are between . 38mm and . 76mm. Set them at . 57MM.

shaft, you shouldn't have to worry about your valves until 150,000 miles. Others that have the 24 valve engine have checked theirs at earlier mileage intervals and I can't recall one that posted that the valves were out of spec. You might want to do a search to verify this, however.

Thanks Alan... .....

John, I am overdue to check the valves... ... note my tagline says I have 178,000 miles on the truck.

Ooops!!! I guess that's why the good Lord gave me eyes. Maybe I should start using them. :-laf

Well, it gives me a reason to cheaply bump up the post count. :D

Looks like this was a Georgia problem all around. Let me know if you need the procedure for the valves, shaft.

Good to hear from you John Berger.

Hey Alan, what's up. I was in your neck of the woods a couple months back, heading home from Chattanooga. Stopped at that Subway for a bite to eat. I had to park the truck and the 5'ver on the side of the road heading down that hill. It was washed out and I was glad there wasn't more traffic.
