Do I need to put air to the cylinder when changing valve stem seals ? 99 24 valve

No, just make sure you follow the firing order, piston at the top and both valves closed.

Curious, how do you know they are bad???

Oil coming out the exhaust manifold on the number one cylinder . Haven’t even pulled the cover off yet going to do that and see what it looks either that or worn out guides and worn out seals

Possibly. Truck has 340,000 miles on the clock and the clock has been broken for at least the two years I’ve owned it
