Valvolene Premium Blue Extreme

I just reviewed the Valvolene Premium Blue Thread, and concur that very few Napa stores have any more of that oil in the CI-4+ formulation.



HOWEVER (no, not shouting, just for emphasis) I noticed that there is now a new oil. It is Valvolene Premium Blue Extreme. It is a 100% synthetic (at only $35 bucks a gallon !) and is 5W40. It IS rated for CI-4+ and does not have the CJ-4 symbol. It also has the Cummins Recommended symbol (The Cummins C) on the label.



I am wondering if anyone has had any experience using this oil?

Eeeks, I bought some a couple months ago from Cummins for ~$17 gallon, most I have ever paid.



I have used the premium blue extreme since changing over to synthetic at 20k miles, I am now at 65k miles. I sample every 5k and the samples always come back great. I could go past 10k miles (samples are always good), but I change at that interval for piece of mind.

I have been using the extreme for 2 yrs now instead of the rotella, with changes at 7500mi intervals (50K mi). 35 bucks though, you need to find a need source, the cummins dealer started at 16 and over the years they are up to 19 a gallon now.

I have been using Premium Blue Extreme for 130K miles at this point and love it. I have changed it every 6k miles (vice 3K for traditional oil). It has always been priced at a little less than twice the cost of the standard 15W40 so for me it saves me money as well as time. On my latestest trip to NAPA, the standard 15W40 was $17 a gal and I paid $31 a gal for the full syn 5W40. So not only does it mean changing my oil less often but it has turned out to be a little cheaper when compared to twice the amout of standard oil.

Valvoline makes a Premiun Blue Classic oil that is CI-4+ it comes in a 5gal bucket the part # 591839 are NAPA dealer get it for us. IT is the oil that they had before the 15 parte per million fuel came out the oil was changed for the 07 up the classic is a very good for the 06 down. You can go to Valvoline web and look it up.
