need some last minute advice. I'am about to purchace a mild box. I've narrowed it down to either a van aaken or ez. which box has less timming?I already have dd2s and I tow heavy some times. so I don't what a real agresseve box. your oppions please. thanks so much. ;)

i may get flamed for this but oh well. If you want the least aggressive timing then out of the two i would say EZ. But, going by your statement then i would suggest you look into the Diesel Dynamics TTPM (Edge EZ chassis with a little less timing). At least this is the gist I've got since watching the boards.

If I'm wrong then correct me guys.

If your trying to keep smoke down then go with the EZ/TTPM(very similar). The VA has a pretty aggressive low end.

If your worried about exhaust temps then all i can say is that these boxes are not bad to cause high exhaust temps even with DDII's and towing "heavy".

Of course I assume you have guages. Also exhaust is recommended.

Try to complete your sig we don't know if you have certain "required" items. Whether you have a 5sp, 6sp, or auto, etc...

I'm not sure about the timing question, but I prefer the Van Aaken box between the two of them. Better low end and smoother running engine from my experience.

The VA is going to have less total timing. Timing is very similar in the DD-TTPM, and there is a reason it is lower.

I have run the VA for over 50K miles and an EZ for over 30K miles. The VA is WAY stronger in the bottom end, midrange and top end are very close to the EZ. If you are running 2's you already have a boost module, so there is no advantage there. Smoke with newer DD injectors is not bad at all.

With the information you provided the VA is the best for you in my opinion.

A search on here will give you a couple weeks reading. The best place to buy one is to pick up a used one out of the classifieds.....

BD has dropped their price on the BD - VA version of the VA. I just bought one and am very pleased with the $$$ I spent..... not much more than the used ones out there and it comes with an integral boost fooler and elbow (for my '99)

Can someone please post a web link or some other way of finding more info on the VA box? Thanks. I was set on the EZ but now I'm not so sure.
