I read on another website that VanAaken is not going to add timing to it's current duration box. Has anyone else heard this? If they don't add timing this box is not worth anything, they make lots of power but you can't use it, egt goes of the gauge, I was under the impression that it was just a matter of time till they figured the timing thing out. That 600 bucks would have bought a lot of other stuff or at least 90% of a TST!!!!!!!!!

Is the EGT's running awayat the top of rpm or at the bottom of the rpm range, and what setting are you on,I'm assuming you are using the duration box.

He is right the new duration box can bury the EGT needle on 50% even with intake and exhaust mods. If that is the case GWoody is right this box is useless.

Mine is stacked with an edge ez and I can run WOT on the 50% setting without much trouble. I was hoping for the timing to cool off the 100% setting. May have to stack it with another box to get some timing. Sure makes the TST look better now!

Surely someone with VA looks at this website some. They need to step up and let us know what their true plans are.

TIMING ON THE VA BOX

Hey guys,

They are working on the timing for the level II VA duration box. It is taking some time due tot he fact that they are doing it through the ECM.

Danny at Precision Diesel is working with VA on finishing it.

If you read DLeno's post, it seems that some of the other fueling boxes are working well with the level II duration box. They seem to keep the EGT's from rising so fast.

On my 600 I don't have a big EGT problem on the 50% setting, but the 100% with skyrocket quickly.

GWoody, I PM'ed you. I am back in town and will get the level I added to the Level II to see if that helps the EGT problem.

By the way, while I was parked at the airport, somebody sold my kitty. :(

Result seemed to be a little quicker spool-up, and no real noticable noise difference.

EEngle,

I noticed you stacked the 2 VA boxes and I was wondering if they ever made a custom harness for that of if you just piggy backed the two? Gotta watch them airports! Alas poor kitty, you knew well... ... .

Pig Tail

bpenrod,

Danny at Precision Diesel is working on getting the pig tail harness. He said he would let me know when they arrived.

VA had it on the "to-do" list.

Well, I feel a little better, talked to the company that sold me the duration box, they are still going to pursue the timing but it will take another box and it may be up to six months away but they are determined to do it digitally thats why such a long wait. He also said that some of the guys towing with the va pressure box stacked with the duration box is seeing a reduction in egt of about 200 degrees, sure wished there was someone close so I could try this combo before sinking more money into something that I can't utilize.

It seems there are a few threads with the same basic topic. I think EEngle has the two stacked and mentioned he might be towinf 10k or so in the next few weeks.

Come and see us

bpenrod,

There is another TDR gathering here in MN on July 10th. There will be a "mustang" portable dyno there. Come on down and see us. Detroit to Minneapolis is a nice drive.

You can try the box on your truck if you like. There are plenty of people around with heavy trailers you can pull.

I don't have a fifth wheel hitch, but the neighbor has a 25,000lb tractor on a trailer you can pull around.
