Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Variable flow turbo elbow

On my 99 3500 24 valve I have been doing research that has shown it is possible to clamp off the pressure hose that runs from the turbo to the waste gate actuator resulting in increased boost levels. One fellow has done this 130k miles ago and still running strong. My question is, though I have a van aiken box installed, am I defueling the motor and where is this new 28 lbs of boost comming from? I was under the understanding that if I added more fuel like on my 98 12 valve the boost level would rise... where is the added fuel comming from now on my 99? Am I doing damage by completely blocking off the hose or should I buy the 15 dollar adjustable boost elbow?

With a stock engine and a max boost of 28lbs, you are OK. You should be seeing a check engine lite with an overboost code set if you don't have a boost fooler on the MAP sensor.



With more fuel, you could start to push your turbo outside of the efficiency map, but for now, you're ok.

I have a friend with a '93 12-valve with an HX-35 charger installed. He clamped off his wastegate line, and gained quite a bit of power, but lost 3 miles per gallon. Nothing to serious I dont think, but if you pull alot of heavy loads you run the risk of overboosting and scattering the turbo, I THINK?
