Hello all

I am installing a VDO egt guage and noticed today that the probe is 1/4" instead of 1/8". Does this mean that it will probly run "cold" and slow because it is bigger, like the probes tested in the TDR magazine? Should I order a smaller probe, or should I not worry about it and just install it? Anyone running a VDO not happy with theirs?

Do I worry too much? :)

I want to keep the VDO because I like its looks.

I have the VDO and I am happy with it. My only complaint is their Vision series boost gauge only goes to 30 PSI.

As far as the size, the plug (adapter) may be 1/4" but the probe is the same size as the others I have seen. Why VDO decided to go with a bigger plug I don't know. If I did it again, or when I do it again someday when I get an ATS manifold, I will get a smaller 1/8" plug so I don't have such a big hole in the manifold.

Guess the worst it can do is blow the plug out:eek:

There for sure is more total pressure on a bigger plug, but my bombing is mild, so I am trying not to worry about it. My problem is I make too much of a deal about everything!

It looks like the VDO will match the stock (1996) guages better than any other guages I have seen, at least at the time I ordered mine, a year ago!

I have a VDO pyrometer and have no complaints... . As for blowing it out I wouldn't worry, I have quite a few mods and have not had a problem.

I opted to change out my VDO boost gauge though for a Dipricol (looks similiar and is a 0-60 psi gauge). Good luck with the install.
