vdo tack on 93 will it plug into factory plug

will a vdo tack setup for a alternator pickup
plug into the factory tack wire under the dash on my 93 and work? or will i have to hook it up another way.
vdo makes a nice 0-4000 part 333353 called a series one and can be top of dash mounted w/ cup but i need help first

VDO tach will not plug into factory plug. I have a VDO Vision series tach that I purchased last January and I still can't get it to work, The VDO technical rep says it will work off the signal from the ECM but I don't know if it's my signal or if it's the tach, one of these days I am going to borrow the factory tach out of a friends truck to see if my ECM is putting out the signal.
If you search the first gen archives there is quite a bit of information on this.
