VDO Vision boost gauge

I was wondering if the rattling that I experience from my VDO Vision boost gauge is the norm for this gauge? I have heard of someone else in a distant thread speak of this, but am wondering how many others experience this. I'm debating whether to replace the gauge with a different brand because it's starting to make me craaaazy. I really like the look of the vision series and I'm even considering purchasing another gauge just like it in an attempt to get one that rattles less.



Are these gauges just real sensitive? Are there any electronic boost gauges out there?

I have a VDO boost gage in my boat that has an electric transducer. It doesn't make any rattling noise.

I have the VDO Vission Boost gauge and it has never made a noise. Are you sure that it is the gauge itself, or could it be the tubing rattling against something? The tubing, if not secured, can really make some noise. My tubing is completely sleaved with the wiring.

I have used the Vision boost gauge in my current truck, and my previous truck, with no noise at all. I believe that there was a thread stating that the noise could be caused from the 1/8" tubing transmitting it to the cab. I used the same tubing in both trucks with no noise.

I'll have to replace my hose. The hose was run through the firewall and right past the parking brake peddle. When the parking brake was released it sliced through the hose. The hose was repaired with a coupler but I wonder if this coupler is causing a pressure fluctuation some how... I'll probably just order a new hose and see if it helps.

I always incase the entire small boost tube in a 1/4" tube, both available from Napa, to protect from cuts, kinks and rattles. Also makes it easier to feed though the firewall.

When I had the VDO Visions, I got all fancy and used steel braided line and it rattled pretty good. I sourced the boost signal from the rear of the intake through the large pipe plug location. I used an isolater next and it help some. Finally gave in and used the plastic hose from end to end and the noise went away completely.

My VDO Vision boost gauge rattled when the boost dropped quickly. I had the gauge about 15 months before it started to rattle. They replaced it under warranty.
