Hey to all I was just wondering where to get a performance upgrade and rebuild for my VE. Anybody had good/bad experiances and what are the approximate costs? I am not looking for anything huge but a nice improvement over stock.

Thanks for the responses guys I will give Piers a call and see about prices and availability. I got my injectors and HX35 from them and was very happy.

I have done several performance VE builds for people. Please pm me for details and prices. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Just be careful if a shop does it and you want the performance rebuild because obviosly the warranty is null and void. I just went through a headache with this situation and all I had done extra was my Bullydog fuel pin swapped from my old pump and the 3200 gov spring added and the pump was flowing so much fuel supposedly the fuel stop solenoid kept blowing the rubber tip off so watch out ,I'm not saying the truck didn't run great it just sucks when you bring it back for a fuel solenoid and they tell you they have to pull it off the truck to look at it and then when they figure out what's wrong they try and stick you with all the labor and no warranty"sorry a little venting there" just trying to save someone else a headache

Dont forget the guys who redid my VE- Northeast DIesel Service (573/243-1442) in Jackson MO. I have put 15K on it in the last 8mo, and have no complaints; I ahve been told I'm hard to please. I am now pegging the 40psi boost gauge with stock (9mm tip) injectors. MPGs went back up to the neighborhood of 20-21hwy; 17-18 city. I did tighten up the AFC spring tension a little to cut some bottom end smoke, but I still leave little more than a grey haze at WOT. I had stock parts with about 120mm/stroke. If you want the higher RPM spring, just give them the part number, and I'm sure they'd be glad to put it in there for ya.

Howdy, Kinda off topic but "dpuckett" what were you getting for mileage before you replaced the VE. I'm getting 14mpg and want more.

I'd like to make a comment about the 'warrant' issue..... What happens with "warranty" is under normal (stock configuration) the shop would repair and return the pump (or whatever item it may be) to the owner... they would in turn send out an 'expense' invoice to Bosch for the cost of the repair...

It's just not possible to do that with a pump that has been intentionally altered and/or run it beyond Bosch spec. I'm afraid that old saying ". . I am my own warranty station" ... applies to us guys who want to play hard... .

Slim,

I was getting in the neighborhood of 14-15mpg city or hwy, after new fuel filter, valve adjustment, etc, etc. I had gotten 20mpg city with this truck before, and got the pump redone after going through all the other less costly options. Plus, it was taking longer to get started (2-3sec cranking), had some blue idle smoke, smoked when I went up a hill, etc. It would still get up and go, just not quite like it should. Got it back from the shop, and didnt realize just how bad it had been. New pump also quieted it some, esp idle.
