Currenlty I am looking into getting a CTD, 99 4x4 5 speed QC LWB to be exact. Before I go trading in my camaro on this, I was wondering if there is anyway to get the service histroy prior to purchasing the truck, dealers here seem to hold back that information from someone who doesn't own the truck. Car Fax came back with some questionable results that maybe the service records could clarify. I still need to crawl around underneith the truck somemore to satisfy myself in it's condition. I have been reading through this site enough to make my eyes bleed, so I have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for, I just couldn't find any way to make dodge release those records.

Thanks

Tom

If the dealer wants you to buy the truck then they will give you that information unless they are trying to hide something. I had a dealer check the past history on my truck and he gladly did it. One time I was looking at a used ford car and they went and retrieved all the records for me. He tried to skip over the new wiring harness, new computer and numerous other electrical problems but I caught him and walked away from the car. If the dealer refuses to let you see what was done to it then I would walk away from it.

Information I should have had in the first post, used car lot. So all I can say is that it's sketchy enough to begin with dealing with someone named Amir. Originally wanted 24k for the truck, basically explained to him that I can pick up a 2001 for that price, and it won't have some of the issues that the 99's have been rumured to have. he's talking a little more sensibly now at 20k. Still working on him though, and it worries me that 4k came off like nothing, only took me half an hour to chew that much off of him, makes me wonder.

The dealer will usually provide service history with the consent of the current owner. If the vehicle is on another used car lot you don't have much of a chance of getting service history. You MAY get a list of anything that was done under warranty but that's about it. Dealers so not "share" routine service history.

Basically what I figured, thought it would be worth a try though. Went over the truck top to bottom, couldn't find anything major wrong with it, not even a 53. The money seems right for 46k miles, just a matter of the camaro isn't getting what it's worth. But more than likely, I will be winding up with it in the near future.

Some used car lot in Huntington, M & A motors, or something like that. Guys are a little sketchy, but since I took my camaro out of their equation it doesn't seem quite as bad. Now I just need to try and unload a 2001 camaro ss at the beginning of fall.
