Has anyone figured out a way to eliminate or at least minmize the wind noise generated by the vent windows (short of gluing them shut)?

thanks,

John

I noticed the other day that mine were doing the same thing and it was a pain to listen to it. I figured it would be quite a chore to get the noise to stop, but I just leaned over and pulled the **** out of the latch. Sure enough it stopped. I don't know if it just came loose or what, but 1 great tug on the latch shut it up. I hope your problem was as simple as mine.

Mine is also making noise. I have tried loosing and rearranging the window a little bit, didn't help much. I have noticed that when I take off my Bud Deflector during the winter, it is not as noisey... but still there. My autobody friend recommends getting new rubber molding for the whole window and that may make it go away.

. . wish I could get mine open! Gotta beat on it to break the seal between glass and weatherstriping. Don't know which is worse... .

Dodge trucks have had this problem for years, my 79 had a terrible wind noise from the no drafts. What I used to do is jamb a penny under the foot of the window latch, to hold it closed. In the mid 80's the no draft design was improved, the rubber seals much better and the latch closes tighter. Just replace the seal, and get a spray can of silicone lubricating compound. (autopar pt# VU845) This stuff will keep the weatherstipping from drying out, it also stops door seals from freezing stuck.

I found that if I don't open the vent window, I will not get the annoying whistling sound after I close it. It happens everytime I open it.

It's very dry and hot at times here. I wipe down the wing window rubber and door seals about once a year with armourall. It seems to help quite a bit.

You might want to check the small plastic nub in the latch if it wears you'll get wind noise. The part isn't avallable but theres tons in the junkyards.

Not a problem reoraider; slip a nickel between the lever and the tab, and the window will be snug as a bug. Replacing the rubber ma be necessary if it's old brittle and shrunk, but even with new rubber, the latch doesn't close it tight enough. I also removed the latch and replaced the rubber washers to take out the play between the latch and the window, but the nickel was STILL needed.
Tacky, but it works!
