when I put the controller on max a/c I can hear the noticeable increase in blower sound but it feels like less air is coming out then when its on regular air, I do not really feel like its coming out at the top or bottom, almost as if it just circuilating in the dash, anybody have a simialar problem?

does make more noise , what it does is close off the outside air source and recycles the cold air inside , and i think it only blows out the upper vents also ...

Its not a problem, its working as designed. While driving down the road at speed, there is a lot of pressure at the base of the windshield where the ventiliation air is drawn from, this pressure force feeds the fan,and this is why its stronger on fresh air than recirculate.

I wondered the same thing at first. Totally normal. Give it a few minutes and it will get colder even though there is not as much noticeable airflow.

Since the cab is fairly well sealed (meaning air doesn't escape easily), I would expect *more* air to blow in recirculate mode.

Consider that, in normal mode, teh blower is forcing outside air into the closed cab. Pressure does build up inside to a small degree, and airflow is limited a little. In max (recirculate) mode, the blower is sucking air in from the floor and blowing it out the vents. The fan is then pushing against 'no' pressure. You should hear the fan slow down a little, but more air should blow out the vents. This is basically how my '98 works.

If airflow is significantly lower in recirculate mode as opposed to normal mode, you *may* have something blocking the recirc input. So move the passenger seat all the way back, sit upside down, stick your head down there and see if anything is blocking the air inlet. *Finding* the inlet is left as an exercise for the student. :)

I purchased a 2002 a few monts ago and noticed no recirc mode on the enviromental control like on my '95. I did not know "max air" was the recirc mode for these newer trucks. Does this mean the only way to have recirc mode is to run the A/C?? What do you do in the winter when you want recirc mode? Will the A/C compressor continue to run if I turn the heater control all the way to the heat?
