I just installed the Vulcan Kit and relocated the lift pump to the frame in front of the tank. Before I had 13 psi at idle and it would shoot down to 0 in less than 2 seconds when I got into the throttle. Now I have 13 at idle and can't pull it below 8 psi under WOT. Very great product! Awesome! I recomend it to everyone!

installed mine today as well, good kit. I only have a few issues with it though. One, the line from the VP-44 to the FF is right over the top edge of the fill for the powersteering pump, not really thier problem, but it kinda sucks. I wish they just gave you the length of hose and fittings, and let you cut them to how long you wanted... the line from the VP-44 to the FF for me was at least 2-3 inches too long, no matter which way I positioned it, it was kinking the line

but over all, love it! I even installed a inline fuel filter before the lift pump. Used a hydrolic screw on filter head, and a NAPA (wix) screw on fuel filter. Still cant pull it below 12PSI! Good CLEAN fuel pressure!

I will take pics tomorrow when I get a chance!

Alphacowboy - Had the same problem but with some dinking around got the line to go behind the power steering pump and filler cap with out to much kink.

Agree with all the kit is awesome.

Alpha and Bob, I had the same problem with the line from the ff to the VP44 being too long, called Eric and he said he had had some complaints of it not being long enough so he had added a little to it. I was able to cut it down and route it to the filter with out any kinks as well. At least it's not too short. :)

Where can I get more info on this Vulcan kit? I'm helping out a friend with a '99 that's looking at having the dealer put in a kit that moves the pump to the tank and it's pricey.

great kit . . works awesome. . i like having the extra hose there. . so you can cut to fit. . always better to have more then not enough... your gonna be trimming the hose how you want it any how. .

later

I am currently in the process of installing the Vulcan Pusher Pump Relocation System on my 1999 CTD. I got the kit from VulcanPerformance.com. Email me with your questions.

Not that it's worthless, but pix would be awesome.

I have a Geno's kit to install (not the big line kit), so interested non the less.

Stref... here ya go!

Bottom view. Installed a Napa (wix) filter before the lift pump, trying to keep this pour pump as long as I can.

Side view. I had a local hydrolic place crip on two ends of the left over hose to connect the pump and filter... had I known how much it was going to be... I would have waited and ordered a couple fitting from Vulcan and waited!

Another angle. I bent a piece of metal strapping in a "_/-" shape and bolted it to the top if the bracket for the lift pump, and the top of the filter head.

#ad

Just another angle.

Line into the VP, you can see kinda how it goes over the top of the Pump fill on the powersteering, again, this is my only complaint. I wish it came with a short straight section with a fitting, so it would come out, and away from the pump, then to the FF. Oh well.

I put a tee on the port for the FP gauge. I tapped the one side of the tee for my gauge line (was a different size) and the other side of the tee got the low pressure sensor. I havent hooked that up yet, dont know how I am going to do that quite yet.

Inlet into the FF housing from the lift pump.

Again, I can pull it to 10psi, but thats in 4th gear and the pedal to the floor at 80mph, so for me, as it sits, with TWO filters, I am very happy. Driving around today, with the box on 5x5, I couldnt pull it below 12 if I didnt push red line.

Very nice pictures, thanks a bunch.

Good idea with the filter, that's a situation that's been on my mind too.

yup, I like the prefilter idea as well. Plus, its a 10 micron, 15GPM filter, plenty filtration for what its being used for. My only concern is how soon/often should I change it? Its a stock item at any Napa or local car parts shop. Its a WIX 4006 Filter, so I think its a good filter. ANd. . its only 9 bucks!

Total cost for what you see above was ~290. 00. This also included some misc parts I bought just in case somthing didnt go how I wanted it. so, over all, I am pleased.

I wish I had a long bed, as the plumbing would have been alot easier, could have just bolted them together in a striaght line. But with the short bed, I had to get a little creative. :cool:

got another question, that maybe one of you could answer for me... . should I ditch the filter in the stock filter housing, or should I just leave it in there. I dont want to bypass it due to the fuel heater, but was wondering if with a 10 micron filter back by the tank, if I need the dual filters.

I finished installing the Vulcan "Big Line" Lift Pump Relocation System and a new pump on my 1999 CTD SWB. One point that I need to make is to use the pump as a tool to clean the new metric adapter thread valleys of metal shaving before installing them in their final locations. I ran each adaptor into the pump ports and removed lots of metal shaving. Here are pics of the finished installation plus before and after (non-towing) pressure readings:

Before relocation:

Idle = 11

Cruise = 8

WOT = 3. 5

After relocation w/existing pump:

Idle = 12

Cruise = 10

WOT = 6

After relocation w/new pump:

Idle = 14

Cruise = 13

WOT = 12

I finally installed my Vulcan kit and new lift pump yesterday. What a big improvement! Before I had 10psi at idle and could draw it down to 3psi at WOT. After install I get 15 to 16 psi at idle and cannot get it below 10psi at WOT. All of this was also with the SMARTY on #5. Since I just also had my Injection pump replaced under warranty I hope the new one lasts longer now.
