I had a very nice veterans day. My son had us out to his house for a BBQ.
He saw a documentary on the military (or history) channel several months ago called Against the Odds, the Marines at Hue. He knew I had been at hue, and ever since has acted very differently around me.
Any way, Im really the only vet in the family still alive (that I know of) in this part of the country, so it was an interesting day.
We had a very large family at one time. I dont even know how many were WWII vets. They're all gone now. I have a couple of cousins back in minnesota who were in nam around the time I was, but I think we're the only vets left in the family. We had another cousin who went into the air force a month before the last US combat troops left viet nam in early 1973 (so he didnt get over there). But he died of cancer a few years ago.
