The revised hydro-boost hose solved the problem for me and others and it took the dealer all of a half hour to put it on, it's not brain surgery. The part and installation for a tsb costs you nothing. This is the tsb: http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2003/19-008-03.htm.

The hose is either a different diameter or length plus the weight. I would think it would be more effective then tie strapping them together.

I have to agree with that, the proven D/C fix would certainly be worth a try before trying to rig up something on your own. I cannot imagine a service department that would not have the technical ability to do this simple job. I've had several TSB's done on my truck including the clutch rattle and the alternator bracket and the results have all had a desireable effect. I like free warantee work .

Dean and DPKetchum,

Nothing wrong with going in and getting the hose done, and I may do that when I have something else to go to the dealer for. To take it in would have cost me about 2 hrs "down time", plus my usual "education session" for the service writers. This particular item wasn't important enough for me to do that. I had read somewhere about the zip-tie solution and since I have a large supply of huge industrial sized zip-ties, I thought I'd try it. Suprizingly any and all vibrations went away completely, so I thought I'd post my results. As far as it being "more effective", a piece of steel glued on to the hose isn't exactly high level engineering in my book! The zip tie cost me,... . well zip! and took me about 15 seconds.

Its not glued just kinda sitting there. But the hose is different. Lots of cars over the years have had harmonics from the power-steering hoses and the cure was different sizes and lengths. A tsb on late model Caravans is a different length hose.

like I said, I'm not arguing that you shouldn't go the new hose route, just explaining what I did, why I did it and what the results were.
