Need some help trying to figure out what I am feeling in the cab in this scenario. I have a 2013 2500 SRW 3.42 gears 4x4. The first time I noticed this was on a 5 hour drive between Chicago and Cincy (I'm thinking the more things get heated up is when I notice it). I stopped at a rest area, got back in and after I backed up and pulled forward with the wheels turned right, I could feel a vibration...like the rear wheels slipping on wet pavement...empty btw, not towing. Took it into the shop and had them check it out during an oil change. Told them from a complete stop, when taking off and turning the wheel (either left or right turn) is when I would feel it. My initial thought was either something in the front end or the transmission. The said the diff fluid needed changed at 30,000 and that's probably what it was...the fluid was breaking down after long hauls. They also told me the 2013's don't have gears in the diff..some kind of new technology in there???? Sounded like BS to me, but I've never been inside there.
So I get it back from the dealership with new fluid and it seems to do it more regularly...empty and towing (light towing, around 5,000lbs)...and usually after getting good and warmed up. I know someone that said they experienced this when their u joint started going on them. I've also read some about launch shudder but I can't say that either one of those fits this exactly. The best way I can describe it is the feeling you get while turning in 4WD on dry pavement...but not that severe. Any help trying to diagnose this...or telling the dealer what to look at would be great.
