Vibration or no vibration

For my two cents worth, no vibration when empty, when hooked up with the 5th wheel, have a moderate vibration on launch to about 15 mph, then it goes away, I've been told to check the driveline, just have not had a chance yet. Any other thoughts?

My dealer figured it was the driveshafts, they balanced everything, and it was still there, next step they took was to add a leveling kit because they figured the front shaft didn't have enough angle on it, better now but still there from 69-74

Had the vibration 4. 10 6sp . dealer fixed by rotating front and rear driveshafts 180 deg.

I have only noticed mine twice in 25000 miles but when it raises it's ugly head you can't miss it. I feel it in the steering column and accelerator. I rarely drive at those speeds though. Since I can't get it to do it for the dealer I will probably just buy the replacement hose with the counter balance and put it in myself. Hopefully that will take care of it.

I have the BFG tires as well. BAD vibration beginning @ 65 on up, most pronounced at 70 to 75. Feel it in the steering wheel and pedals. I have 1200 miles on it. Called the dealer today and he said he does not want to look at it as Dodge is aware of the problem and is working on a fix, he thinks in the next few weeks. I'll believe that when I see it. I can't believe this got past the QC guys. I think they knew about it but shipped the trucks anyway while they figured out a fix. I'd say driveshaft problem if I had to guess. 04. 5, 3500 SRW, 3. 73, Auto, 4x4, BFG On/off road tires.

Okay, switched to 315's, and removed the duals altogether, and absolutely no vibration at any speed. Also, removed the rear blocks I was running, which killed the 2nd gear launch shutter I would feel between 6-12 MPH.



Overall, the truck is smooth at all speeds and is almost perfect.

Well... I had the leaky power steering, headliner leak, cracked alt bracket, but never a vibration. Good to know I missed at least one of the common problems.

I wonder if they have it and aren't concerned about it until someone points out that it's not normal. The vibration is so mild in mine that I had to point it out to my wife before she even felt it. But it's there just the same.

You must not have looked on Diesel Truck Resource. Run a search. Tons of problems on this.

Exactly same as mine. And same fixes so far. Still got it.

A different two cents,. . but I'd say yours on launch is Torq converter is you have an auto. What we're all talking about is around 2k rpm and up. Includes droan sound and vibration similar to putting on real rough mud treads at 70mph and up with out even stopping for a pit stop to put 'em on!!

we've had vibration since we picked up truck @ 10k ... dealer has 3 other trucks with it ... wife and i had truck up on 4 jackstands this weekend during tire rotation ...



results ...



it is in the rear ... did it with tires off ... rear driveshaft looks perfect ... rotated it 180 degrees per manual and other posts on here ... no change at all ... with hand on tranfer couldn't feel it ... with hand on transmission couldn't feel ... with glove on exhaust couldn't feel it ... with hand on motor couldn't feel it ... rotated tires did road test ... felt same ...



freind who rode in it at 10k and not since rode in it again this weeked and said it is much less noticable ...



with all the various cures i've seen here and at dtr i've have come to the conclusion that the new frame is acting like a tuning fork ...



after muncie i think i may rachet strap some heavy steel on a straight piece of frame to see if it changes it at all ...



not bad enough to really bother, just enough to **** me off 'cause i can't figure it out myself

Dodge Dealers have been using that line at least since I first reported my vibration in Feb. '03. My dealer and DC rep fixed my truck... . they replaced it. I put 30. 3K miles on the '03 and they charged me for 700 @ . 25 cents a mile. 700 miles was the first time I had it in for the problem. They gave me back ever dime on my truck including the $3K in accessories I had installed. I did have to pay tax and license on the first truck and tax and license on the second truck. The tax on the new truck was only on $3K because the new truck had an MSRP $3K higher.



I did not have to employ a lawyer. I did contact the Utah Bar Association, the Utah Auto Dealers Association, and the dealership manager.



My new truck does not have the vibration. I took it for an 80 mile drive before I would agree to accept it. Over all I think I was treated very fairly. I did take me 10 months to convince them to do the right thing.



The story is much longer than I have time to type. Don't lay down and let them screw you. Make them order you a new truck and drive it when it comes in to confirm that it is not afflicted with the same dreaded vibration.

Maybe what we need is a class action suit against DC to deal with this problem. Since some have been dealing with this problem for over a year, enough opportunity has been given to

DC to fix it. It appears it is more severe in some trucks than others. In my case it is severe and would put your foot to sleep pretty quickly. It is also accompanied by a droning that is also VERY annoying. In any event, DC needs to get off their butts and deal with this situation ASAP
