I've been meaning to post this for a couple weeks in case in happens to somebody else. Last year I had a power steering hose replaced on a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) to reduce vibration. It came with the dampener on it and although it didn't totally eliminate the vibration I could feel in the steering wheel, it made it a whole lot better. Well, a month or so ago this same hose cracked at the fitting on the power steering unit and I lost all the fluid. (Which for anybody else like me that didnt know it, you also lose your power brakes when this happens. ) Anyway, I got a new hose from the dealer and installed it myself. It had the dampener on it. I took it out for a test drive and lo and behold, the irritating vibration was back just like it had the original hose on it without the dampener. I took the truck back home and loosened the fitting on the pump and turned the hose just a hair to relax the tension on it a bit and tightened the fitting back up. The next test drive out the vibration was basically gone. I've seen on here where folks had the hose replaced and it didn't help any. Apparently, the position and tension of the hose has some affect on the vibration, at least it did on my truck. Just thought I'd pass this along in case someone has this happen.
