Just started this morning, i now have 63,000 miles. When decelerating I have a drone and vibration like bass from a sub. When I push on the accelerator it stops. It does not do it at take off either. Towards the end of today when slowing down to stop and i get around 15 to 10 mph the whole truck starts to shake and bounce like your trying to stop with the truck still in gear. The faster i'm going down the highway the louder the drone and vibration is. Push in on the clutch and put the transmission into N and let the rpm's go all the way down and coast down the highway it still does it. It's not speed or rpm related. Seems to me like maybe drive shaft, U-joint or rear end????? Anybody else experience this or have any ideas?

PS - Just installed 315 BFG's last week, this wouldn't cause this would it????????????

If I had to take a guess I would say the rear drive shaft u-joints are bad. When you are in coast the forces switch to the opposite side of the u-joint. If the bearings are bad it will make noise. Usually you have to pull the ds to check the caps bacause there is too much tension when it is in the truck to check for play.

Truck has been at the dealer for 2 days now. All U-Joints are shot. Hard to beleive on only 63K. Best part is, parts are on a nationwide backorder??? Haven't heard how long yet.

backorder? Tell them to get on the phone and order some Spicer joints from the local parts store.

I'm trying to find the part numbers to do just that. Can anyone cross reference them to Dodge part #5102157ab?

Kind of sounds like mine last Friday night. Got to my dealer today and luckily they had three in stock because I needed two. the rear one and the middle one. The rear joint was loose and dry in the cups. Needles were falling all over the floor when it came apart. The middle joint was "frozen stiff. " I think there is a severe lack of grease in these joints form the get go. The partsman said a lot of other dealers have tried to get his u-joints, but he hung on to them. They sure rip us on the price. I am glad I only had to pay the deductible. Hopefully by the next time the aftermarket is up to speed. All the bad vibes. shakes and jerky shifts are gone now. The truck feels just like new again.

No they did not add grease even though I suggested it to them. Like I said above this should get me to the time when the after market has caught up. The mechanic said the replacements seen to be lasting okay.

my truck acted the same last night. called dealer to see when they could look at it, next week. so I pulled the shaft and the middle joint was locked up on one side. 28,553 miles. anyone have an aftermarket vendor yet?
