1)Pulled it, bad hop, no seen damage.

2) Pulled it, bad hop, lost spiders, limitied slip

3) replaced Spiders, LS, 3 rear U-joints, carrier bearing, and driveshaft checked.

4)vibration at 29 MPH, no matter what gear, clutch in or out, coasting, etc.

5)Pulled it, slight hop.

6) Pulled it, EXTREME hop, lost yoke.

7) replaced yoke, and another U-joint.

8) Still have vibration at 29 MPH, even with a tire and rim change.

9) Pulled it with small wore tires, no traction, extreme hop.

Vibration is worse, and on way home turned to a shudder above 40 mph.

Got home and shot every component with laser heat gun to find a hot spot, all ok, normal.

What the heck is twisted or damaged that I'm not seeing?

Rear end twisted the tubes?

I am at a loss here.

The worst thing I have seen was the whole center section on a Dana 70 rotated 30 degrees... ... and a broken axle from a LOT of power, and axle hop.

Check the center section welds, and any indication of the axle twisting on the ubolts.

I SEE none of that, doesn't mean I'm not missing it, though. But I'm going to pull the axles, and check them again.

Have you checked the pinion bearing at all Gene,,I have seen Dana's twist so hard they will stress the bearing and even stress crack the case around it,,Also have seen the pinion itself twist and cause what your seeing too,,One thing I know you'll not want to hear, but, did you check to see if you hurt the input shaft or bearing assembly,,I do realize that its Daves good pieces but with the hopping you have been having that stuff will transmit to anything,,Also check to see if when it was hopping if you may have knocked the pinion angle out this will also give a vibration,,With the HP and torque you are making it may be time to think about having the rear checked by a chassis man for straightness and have it braced in the rear,,Hope this helps,if ya need a hand call me... ..... andy

Just pulled the rear cover off again, 1 busted tooth on a spider. Cannot believe that is the vibration.

Going to Greensburg to have it all checked out.

Radixr,

I beat Lorretta Mitchell, Scheids demon, Black Dog, Powersnorter, Dave Gresh, Bill Kondolay, a slew of Indianians, and best off all, a Texan, and DDs pride, Jim Fuller!!!

You better believe it was worth it!!!Oo. ;) :D ;)

Well it looks like you found it. Great!

I knew it could not be in front of the transmission if it does it in neutral - not clutch or engine. I was going to say to take the drive shaft out and have your dad tow you down the road and see if it still does it. That would rule out the drive shaft.

Perhaps it's a good time to go to a Detroit Locker?

Seeya,

I don't believ that little tooth was the problem, it may have just happened last night.

Motor mounts are fine, checked them about an hour before illflem suggested it.

Its funny how the very little things can cause something so not good. My u joint went bad a few weeks ago. I discovered it when I would down shift and there would be a vibration. One of the end caps was powder.

broke the head off a bolt that bolts ring gear to carrier and that was enough to send a vibration through my truck. smooth as glass with all new bolts again. Getting tired of all these bolt heads popping off.
