Has anyone had problems with their dual mass flywheel. If so what were some of the symptoms I have a 2006 5. 9 auto all stock so far ,it has developed a bad vibration at 58 mph . Can t find the cause. Tires rebalanced 3 times , new u joints on rear driveshaft, new torque converter by BD. now being told could be flex plate flywheel . Any thoughts would be welcome.

If you don't see any movement on your harmonic dampener it's probably your DMF. 1900 RPM and about 8-900 rpm is where the vibration is probably at. My DMF failed at 104k just out of warranty! What is your truck? No truck in your sig. Automatics dont have a DMF!

Uhhhh, you don't have a dual mass flywheel. The DMF assembly is used with the manual six speed and conventional clutch. Your post says you have an automatic.

My '06 with about 130k miles on it lost the bushing in the 48RE automatic tailshaft that "locates" the tailshaft. The bushing simply slid out of it's pressed-in location in the tailshaft. Without the bushing the tailshaft wobbled and created the vibration at around 60 mph. It quickly began leaking ATF from the tailshaft because without the bushing to keep the tailshaft under control the tailshaft wobble quickly destroyed the tailshaft seal.

I think it's unlikely your problem is the flexplate.

I have no idea if this is your problem but watch carefully for ATF leakage from the transmission tailshaft.

thanks i know this doesn't have a dual mass flywheel but a flex plate ,it is getting replaced wed i hope it does it mine is still under warranty with 80m miles thanks again

You're wasting time and someone's money replacing a flexplate when the symptom is vibration at a specific road speed. If it was engine speed related the vibration would be felt whenever the engine is running at the same speed it is when in overdrive range at that speed.

Your problem is much more likely to be in the driveline, wheels, or tires.
