The REAL problem is the idiots over at CARB.

Any time that "emissions decisions" are made based theories instead of facts and with revenue in mind rather than supposed clean are standards (which again are based on theory and not scientific fact) you have a major problem.

This is not an opinion... ... ..... it came straight from a CARB employed scientist.

Wake up people, they don't care about clean air... ... . all they care about is revenue!

In the end, all your income goes to tax. First you pay income tax. With what's left you buy things and tax is collected again (sales tax, luxury tax, fuel tax, etc). The company that you bought things from pays their employees (and pays related taxes too) and the money left over (corporate income) is taxed. The employee pays income tax and the whole cycle starts again. If the company pays dividends, they are taxed. If a shareholder sells shares, it is taxed. Etc. Etc. Etc.

All income ends up as taxes eventually.

The CA laws are interesting. Does sound like you are not allowed to purchase a new (under 7500 miles) federal emission standards vehicle and bring it in. I didn't see any prohibition on used vehicles, though.

There is an exception, though, if your CA registered vehicle becomes inoperative beyond reasonable repair or is stolen while out of state. Should be pretty easy to have your old jalopy break down while out of state and be more expensive to repair than it's worth.

Because, I'm tired of arguing with the liberals who think we pay too little tax in this State I'm going to try and get this topic back on track. Thank God there are more people who have posted under this topic that have their head on straight rather than those arguing for more tax. Myabe there is hope for this State. I lied I'm not ready to stop arguing. This is an interesting topic here are the nuts and bolts. If a Californian wants to purchase a Cummins High Output engine in their truck most people (giving advise) spout off about 7,500 miles and use it as a blanket statement. The law does allow a California resident to own and register an '03 Cummins High Output equipped truck in this State. The easiest way is to find a used truck out of state BUT it must have 7,500 miles or more on the odometer at the time of purchase. Then it can be brought to CA. and legally registered! 7,500 miles ONLY applies to this situation PERIOD! Next issue, a Californian CAN NOT purchase a new vehicle and register it out of state(in your name) while being a CA. resident and expect to get it registered in CA. at a later date. It does not matter if it has 7,500 or 100,000 miles on it. If you try and SCR#W CA. (as a RESIDENT of CA. ) and get caught you will either have a truck that will not be allowed in this State or will pay fines so heavy you wish you had a set of vise grips to apply to your ba!!s to relieve the pain in your wallet! So, if you want a NEW HO Cummins engine in your truck and live in CA. do your homework, be smart and most important CYA! I wish you the best. :) I think this topic has been beat to death.

Out of State HO

Thank you Jkibby!

This is just the point I was trying to get across!

I think that most people will agree that this out of state purchase law is stupid, and I hate California for being so narrow minded! And more power to those of them that can beat it!

My wife and I opted to not do that, but I sometimes wish I did!

I am still happy with my SO, and will keep it until the ISB 6. 4 350hp 650tq engine comes out in 2007! Just a little funny I thought I would throw in... . LOL! But I am glad that everyone understands the situation here and it was fun while it lasted!

(I do believe there will be a ISB 6. 4, 350hp, 650tq in our future, remember you heard it from me first)

Registering a HO in CA.

Someone brought to my attention that it would not be wise to list a AAA agents ph. # with regards to a previous post on this topic, so I edited it out. That being said she did not give any illegal info to me. She just answered my questions which allowed me to make educated decisions. She answered questions regarding the state rules which the DMV would not answer because they work for the state not us! I had researched all the info which was on various DMV web sites but it was vague. She just gave interpretations on how the state views the rules. You do the work they may verify your research.

Damm, $2 to get rid of a old tire, why spend the money when you can just light off a pile down wind of town.

Light them on fire??? Why not help a neighbor out instead? Paint "No Hunting" on them and drive out into the country and hang them on fence posts:)
