Ok keep in mind my HX40 was a KwikSpool..... and it was Kwik!!! Plus I loved the sound of it. I wouldn't spin it past 38psi or so, but it spooled up really fast.



The B1 is much bigger shaftwise so it makes sense it spools slower in comparision to the KwikSpool, just ask Kurt he'll admit that the KwikSpool was fun!



The B1 seems to be more versitale... . I don't tow so I can't give any numbers on that end. But hotrodding around, I can't peg my EGT anymore like I used to. I haven't spun it over 50 psi yet either. Its only slower on spool up on the initial take off..... once it spools... its gone... and comes on hard.



Maybe Floor It can jump in here and describe it... . I took him for a spin before I raced to try and get the snow out of the truck.



I was launching around the same levels as I always have. Thats why I gotta relearn the launch. Next time out gonna kick it up a notch or two... and see if I can ge the B1 hummin before i leave the line.
 
I'm still on DDIII's..... only thing thats changed is my exhaust and turbo. The BD IV's go in this weekend, after I dyno it in its current form.



The turbo comes on real strong about 15 to 20psi.

after watching your video, i can see why you went slower. it looked like you left with hardley any boost. how i planned on staging was hitting the 1st set of light and bringing the boost up to 15 and then rolling forward to trigger the 2nd set. once the 2nd set is lit i would bring the boost up to 25 and wait for the tree.



the good thing is you weren't all that much slower leaving at low boost once you get your launching down you will be faster than your kwik spool.



you need a lot more smoke in order for the n20 to work good. i think the 4's should fix it.

sorry Kat--I thought you'd made the switch to the 4's already---since I have no real world experience with the Kwikspool, but have heard all the testimonies about it's kwikness I can understand your learning curve will be different with the B1----





Jim are you launching in 4x4 with 25lbs of boost--cuz if not aren't your tires going up in smoke?????... ... . chris
 
Hey Jim, have you tried that yet? I was just thinking that with 15psi of boost, you'd be hard pressed to let the truck move forward 6 inches, then stop it again.



I just get to the line, set both pre-staged and staged lights before the other guy and get on the loud pedal. Only takes like 6 seconds or so to get to 15psi. I have to regulate the pedal to keep it there or it will still climb. I coudn't imagine letting off the brake enough to inch forward, then get the brakes to stop it again.

i've tried it on the street with people watching and they said i didn't move over 6". but i like your idea of rushing into the lights and then load the truck while you wait for them.

Around here we have courtesy staging. You can only stage one light before the other person starts staging. If you stage both lights they make you back up and restage. So rushing the lights would'nt work here. Don't know how everywhere else is.

Just a thought. Does'nt matter to me, I'm a 6 spd.

now that you skipped over those pesky 12's, and are into the 11's.....

Kat now that your in the 11's, now bd 4's, and n2o should put you in the 10's. ;) :cool:

I think Kats truck has the possiblity of low 12's,with drugs. The B-1

seems to spool up a little slower than his kwikspool but then again it should but compared to the other hx 40's I'd say its faster.

The problem is what jim said,Kat needs more boost off the line and I think while sitting on the line the B-1 takes a little longer to get to the boost that Kat needs. BUT! when the B-1 hits it comes full on faster than the kwikspool. Right now it is allowing the engine to rev so much faster that the transmission cant shift fast enough. Overdrive shifts in way too late. I can verify that this baby

pulls much stronger!
 
I'm glad Kat and Stefan are coming to MM02. Only wish Jim could make it too and we'd have a great show at the drag strip for the folks.
