Competition DHRA Pull to be on The Outdoor channel

Competition arp studs and high boost numbers

After the transmission wars on this board, it is truly shocking to me that ATS has emerged as THE auto company to get the power to the ground, in the toughest motorsport, Diesel Pulling.

Not just beat the other autos, but starting to sneak past the stick trucks, also.

I didn't think I would see it happen, a year ago.

Kent Crowder has dominated the open class since Scheids event, '02. Since then he has won every major event, Including TiM, and Jesup, and numerous small ones.

It will take a tube frame and pulling tires to beat him, because I don't think anyone else is close to the power they are making.

As an Ohio fan/customer, and an automatic hater, it ain't fun posting this, but I'm with Justin, we have to give credit where it is due.

And like I said said, Coppess is the top street class truck in the country.

This all depends on whose street class rules you go by. I know a certain white single charger STREET truck (from Ohio) that won the pro class in Muncie. I would have to give him the nod for top street class truck in the country. Wouldnt you agree Sleddy?

Jim,

You said it all with your first line.

Didn't that same truck get kicked out of the street class for having a modified exhaust housing?

If were gonna play that game, you might as well let the single charger Scheid truck in the street class!

Street truck UH HUH :-laf :-laf :-laf

No I wouldn't.

Milbys truck is a "window" truck. When the windows open, its awesome, when the window closes, its a turd.

I would also love to see his truck tow a trailer, with that charger. :D

The Haisly autos are the ones to beat. I got second on Friday to Chris Harness(sp?) in the pulloff at Gaston.

Found out after the pull I lost the rings on #4. I do believe it has been hurt for a good bit.

J. R.

Outside looking in here!

I watch you guys more than you think, I've watched the Muncie video say 50 times for the unlimited guys, the main thing Scheids has is ground speed, H. P. is one thing but momentum is another, and you can watch every truck in any class and see were that rules. Now granted I know little of nothing about pulling but I do understand the laws of motion.

Now to the Single Chargers guys, these folks are re-writing the books as I see it, you guys are doing great! I like the sticks leaving at High RPM but the loose auto's leaving the line then locking it up once there out is cool also..... but dang you guys are crazy downshifting at full load... . makes me duck

Jim

Did JR just say he was in a PULL-OFF!!?? That means he was at the right end of the track! HOO-RAH!

I believe the secret to downshifting, is doing it before you are almost stopped. Don't lose the momentum.

I remember a Ford at Scheids who shifted down the last 1" of movement-both driveshafts, bam!

J. R. , congrats on the 2nd place.

Chris Harness is another top truck and is a 24 Valve Auto.

Jim,

Did you get the 04 Pulls video yet?

The autos have the sticks on the downshifting thing.

Right where the sticks lose boost, the autos throw her into 2nd and get another 4 or so feet!

Now just a minute. Nobody said anything about pulling a trailer. But, it seems to pull the sled fine. Besides, my turd would be a puddle if I cranked up the box and hooked to a trailer. ;) Most of the single charger trucks couldnt pull a trailer anyways.

Justin... Yes, Milbys truck did have a modified exhaust housing, but it directly bolted to the exhaust manifold (like the rules said it had to). What it didnt have, is an adapter plate like the rules (at that time) said you couldnt have. But, another truck (different brand) that did have an adapter plate was allowed to pull. And yes, I know why they let him run.

Now, while were on the subject, will someone explain to me the charger rules for the street class at Scheids? Ford and Chevy can run ANY charger, but the Dodge boys are limited to housing size?

Look, I'm not trying to **** anybody off here (except maybe Gene :-laf ), I am just expressing my opinion and stating a few facts. :)

Then get your facts straight at least, heaven knows your opinion will always be wrong. :-laf

The rules at that time, and still at this time state:

"Single charger only. Must directly bolt-on to the exhaust manifold. Altered exhaust mounting flanges prohibitied. "

They posted on their website it was altered. Quote from EEP site: "

Ryan is a single charger truck, but had to pull with the twins because his turbo housing had been drilled. It did bolt directly to the manifold). "

Admission of said violation, End of story.

That charger did not belong in the street class, it belonged in the class it won, Pro-Street.

Thanks goes out the DHRA tech guys for catching it.

As far as Fridays rules at Scheids, why don't you call or email them?

I dont mean to pick a scab. I am just trying to validate the point of my opinion that Milbys truck is the top Street truck in the country. Another truck with an ALTERED exhaust housing was allowed to pull in that class.

I DO have my facts straight... my truck IS a turd. :p

Well your "fact" is based on your wrong opinion that Milbys truck is a street truck.

So yer back to square one. ;)

No scabs, I just don't like to see misinformation posted under the guise of a "fact. "

WOW, my head is spinning from this one being new to pulling I still have alot to learn and cant wait to get things squared away so I can start pulling as to most sinlge charger trucks not being able to pull a trailer I can agree my egts are up anyway and alot of guys out there in the street class have alot more than my truck, it's unreal some of the power thats being made out there with a single charger :--) and for milby in my mind has one heck of a truck and isnt afraid to run in the bigger classes and dosent do to bad

Wow, what a great thread. Gene, you be nice to J. R. he's nursing a sick horse right now, and I think he would have beat that Haisley truck if he hadn't tried a different gear in the pulloff. One more thing I know a lot of you guyz haven't seen him but Ray Gullett of the SHOW ME SMOKERS has got a pretty bad a!@ street truck as well as Jeremy 01HO Homeyer and Jeff Strothkamp. So give the Ozark boys some credit. :-laf

Was he running a propane system on that rig, cuz I swear I saw a poof of flame come out the stack when he the sled stopped him? If not propane, then what else would cause fire out the stack? Nitrous?

Great looking run BTW. Does anyone know what his engine set-up is as well as drive train?

Look closely and you'll see that it's the flagman, not a puf of flame... .

I also agree with the statement of give some credit to the show-me's cause there seems to be a couple guys come over to IN from MO to several pulls and they either win or come close to it. Dont know who they are, I think from around Villa Ridge maybe?

Some nice trucks.
