I don't think its turbo bark or a intercooler hose. The Video had a heading BLOW OFF VALVE. Read where its used on GAS turbo's mainly. On one of these forums someone posted a engine failure/turbo failure caused by the use of one of these on a diesel. Its on www.Streetfire.net

my 99 with the stock turbo with banks big head actuator would make that sound if i had the tst turned up and was WOT and backed off the throttle fast. almost positive it's a turbo bark. it would go woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh.

It sounds like turbo bark to me. I can make mine sound exactly like that. I think maybe it is an example of being in need of BOV, just like mine is.

Most definitely a good bark! My BOV sounds like a big rig when it engages its parking brake. Just a big PSHHHHHHT!!! depending on boost level. 50psi is super loud, 20psi is just a little one.

OK, the kind of bark that is from sudden reduction of rpm, now what can be done about it? Mine does it when the auto transmission shifts from 3 -> 4 under load pulling a 13k 5er.

My only solution right now is to watch for the shift and reduce the boost below 10#, let the shift happen, then bring the turbo back up to full boost (35#).

Yep, definitely a bark! Sounds identical to my 2nd Gen with a Banks PowerPack when I pull out of the go-pedal real quick. :D

bark for sure ...

i thought everyone on here had heard that sound

I onlt hear it when I got my big turbo and new intake on. It seems like the bark my stocker would make was more quick and quiet. Nothing like what the SP66 will bark like

maybe he has an afe type intake ... wifes has done that before just not so many "BARKS" ... and the camera man was at the right place at the right time ...

just to be safe Tommygun i'd like to put a request in for a recording of a SP66 barking on a 605 hp third gen ...

Just kidding ... but i'll bet it would be quite the WOOOOOOF in a similiar situation to the one filmed above . .

Am I the only one who thinks that turbo barking is not that big of deal? Considering you are not pushing the turbo to it's limit.

I think an HX-40 can be barked forever as long as it stays at less than 38PSI, and a '35 if it does not go over 35PSI.

I have a friend who barked his Ball Bearing garret all day every day,, he said it sounded better than turbo whine.
