2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission VIN# Breakdown

I am a new subscriber and owner. Bought a 02' 2500 with TDR stickers on it on 6-16-06 in Columbus Ohio. Was wondering if I can tell what the axle ratio is from the vin#. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question. Just want to know EXACTLY what I have before asking to many stupid questions.

I cant tell you how to break down the VIN but you can look on the underside of the hood. and there will be a sticker that tells you what ratio it is.

No mention of rear end ratios encoded in the VIN#. A dealer should be able to pull the vin and see exactly what it had installed at the factory, plus you could see if it has been repaired by any shop.

Quickest and surest way---Crawl under and look at tag on differential cover, installed under cover studs.

I went to my dealer and got a 2 page printout on my truck. I don't remember if the ratios were there, but it contains alot of info. Worth the trip.
