Vin Number Info

Trying to get info from VIN#... . Does anyone have a breakdown of

the information it provides..... especially place of manufacture????

Not sure if it applys to all years, but my 02 had the place of manufacture on the driver door info plate. Said in plain, english lettering "made in mexico"

1st digit-1=US, 2=Canada, 3=Mexico

Many thanks for the help and the links posted back to the same question

in March. The info supplied by RJOL and Semicrazy told me all I needed to

know. After all the quality issues that I've heard concerning the Kentucky

plant, I was afraid that the "K" in my vin # meant "KY. " Now I'll be able to

get a good night's sleep knowing it's a south of the border truck.

Since I'm a fairly new TDR member I've been trying to read all of the old posts

to bone up on Dodge/Cummins. Do they make Mega cabs anywhere except in

Mexico????Thought I'd seen that somewhere... . maybe it was a discussion about American quality control, in general; if so, I stand corrected.

Never have heard of that before. Just the engine serial number on the valve cover cover sticker.
