VIN question

I'm looking around at dealer's inventories, trying to see if anyone local has my truck in stock. Is there a way I can determine if the truck has SRW, LB, 6speed from the VIN? What other details can you tell from the VIN?

why don't you just go to dodge.com? From there you can look at dealer inventory right down to the window sticker. That is, assuming the dealer is big enough. My dealer in Key West handles the complete Ford line and Toyota as well as the DC line. His inventory isn't on-line. Big dealers are.

I believe only 5 Star dealers have their inventory online. Check http://www.dodge.com/bodybuilder/2004/docs/intro/vin.pdf for current VIN decoding. This should tell you all you need to know about specs.

Moterhead, I was there, but I couldn't find LWB vs. SWB or DRW vs SRW there. They had pictures, but I don't want to trust them as they appear to be generic.

It's hard to describe how excited I've become thinking about this truck. I wonder what it will be like once I take delivery?

If you select Ram truck, then 2500/3500, then select inventory search on the left side of the screen, you'll go to a screen where you can put in zip code, dealer name, etc. I put in zip and get the eight closest 5 star dealers. Click on one. You'll get a screen with their 2500 or 3500, whatever listed. It'll say in the listing SWB or LWB, SLT or whatever, 4X4 or 4X2. If you then click on the vehicle line, you will go to a more detailed screen. On that screen you will see a block right underneath the picture of the truck that says View the window sticker for this vehicle. That button brings up the sticker for that actual vehicle. It'll have everthing you want to know.
